‘A Narrow World’ is a short film directed by Brent Bonacorso, this film comes under the Sci-Fi genre due to the storyline which is based on an alien arriving on earth. The story highlights an abstract perspective on aliens arriving on earth. Although this film is short, the director manages to extract emotion from the characters while highlighting the story line in the 15 minute movie.
The cinematography is effective as it brings many editing techniques and it conveys a lot of emotion just using shot types. The editing techniques that are used portray the characters through a different aspect than other movies as the aliens are not there to attack or save anyone like the way they are represented in other movies.
This film not only focuses on the Sci-Fi aspect but also highlights the documentary sides of things as it is very informative. The music and sound added to the movie emphasises the characters. Despite the juxtaposition with the music, the aliens are not there to harm anyone like in the movie ‘District 9’.
The film ‘ReMoved’ follows the tory of a little girl who's parents are abusive and they are constantly fighting, she attempts to stand up to her father in order to protect her mother. The voice over which is used has a dramatic affect. The voices in the background are mumbled in order to focus on the main character who is a young girl within 7-9 years of age. Her small voice over the quad music will evoke more emotion from the audience. The whole movie consists of her ‘story’ as she explains the processes of her troubled childhood.
